Review of The Brave One (2007) by Cancelled U — 26 May 2009
Another addition to the revenge theme we've seen unusually often in recent years, or so I've imagined. "The Brave One" has a terrible title but this is a very solid and entertaining drama-thriller, focusing on the psychological aspects of loss and personality chances.
The assault in the beginning is realistic and extremely brutal - a great way to get the viewer engaged and sympathize with the main character Erica (excellently played by Jodie Foster). Very good pace and the timing of the acting scenes and the slow scenes are perfect.
Great atmospheric music by Dario Marianelli. I was afraid that the ending was going to ruin this movie, more or less, but without spoiling anything I will just say that it didn't.
