Basically, this is a female version of Death Wish with a sympathetic cop. Jodie Foster is outstanding as a woman who is mugged in Central Park with her boyfriend. The mugger beat the stew out of her but they kill him.
After she recovers, she buys a black market automatic and sets out to find them. Before she does encounter them, she kills several other thugs. Not to be missed.
