Review of The Brass Teapot (2012) by Roxanne R — 03 Sep 2013
What would you do if you find an antique teapot that you steal from a roadside antique shop and discover that each time you get hurt, money flows from it? If you are in debt will you hurt yourself or your loved ones to pay the bills? How far will you go to increase that pot of money? All these questions are addressed in this story written by Tim Macy and directed by Ramaa Mosley.
Alice (Juno Temple) and John (Michael Angarano) are a young couple, in love and very much in debt. Alice is unable to find a job despite her bachelors degree in art history and John gets fired from his telemarketing job selling tv warranties.
An accident in a rural country road leads them to an antique shop where Alice steals a brass teapot and discovers its magical quality of giving out wealth every time its owner or someone close to him/her experience pain whether physical or emotional.
She shares the discovery with her husband and this new found wealth can transform people in many ways. Will they stop or will tragedy strike? Good acting, it is part comedy drama that certainly kept me engaged because the moral of the story is very clear and makes you think what you would do in that situation.
Available in Netflix instant streaming so saddle up and enjoy the ride folks! Recommended!!
