Review of The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962) by James B — 29 May 2009
Horror films were truly meant to dig into the dark corners of our lives by pushing the images that comes across the screen, and this became exceedingly clear in this movie, whether intentional or not (even if made only for entertainment the sex, the violence, the misogyny come out interestingly through hypersexual female characters, burlesques, and moments where relatively defenseless woman has her mouth taped by her fiancé).
The movie itself is nothing all that great, in fact there are too many boring lulls in the action, but the movie does take an interesting look at the world of doctors in that it suggests a dark undertone to their lives during a time when they were still viewed as gods.
