Review of The Brady Bunch Movie (1995) by Michael S — 27 Nov 2008

There was that 90s kick where every old TV show got remade into a movie, and we ended up with movies that were either terrible (Leave it to Beaver) or strictly for kids (Little Rascals). The problem that all of them had is that they wanted to try to recapture that essence of the show and preserve it for a new audience.

Thankfully, here, the filmmakers realized that the Brady Bunch was a relic, and so they brought the Brady's to this new time and world and let us laugh at how much of a relic they still are. I loved it because it appealed as a comedy and it appealed as an homage to a show and a time that aren't coming back.

Yes, the depictions of the 90s are pure hyperbole already, but that doesn't take away from seeing the wholesome Brady clan tangle with double entendre and hi-jackers without even realizing it. All the acting was fantastic, staying true to the original.
