Review of The Boys in the Band (1970) by Michael J — 01 Jan 2008
The dialogue alone is enough to blow one away. The gay man's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe?" From the director of "The Exorcist," it's curious how much the two movies have in common.
Largely secular, artistic characters, failed by psychotherapy turn ironically to religion when dire circumstance arises. Friedkin also has a fetish for motivating his actors up and down stairs... in both movies, not just the famous one.
