Review of The Boys in the Band (1970) by Aaron D — 02 Jan 2008
I can't believe that anyone would watch this film from 1970 and attempt to form some opinionated analysis through the lens of present-day sexual politics. Perhaps this doesn't at all satisfy all it's viewers, but I challenge anyone to watch this.
It is a unique and very important part of 20th century American cinema; not only for the gay community, but for everyone. It's raucous, dry, and at times just silly. Truly groundbreaking. After 30 yrs, it's still a one-of-a kind.
Available (I read) on DVD in May, '08.
