Review of The Boys from Brazil (1978) by Zane T — 11 Feb 2010
Gregory Peck had a way of speaking that he never thought to, I don't know, change it for his character. As the real life Dr. Josef Mengele in a fictional story about cloning Hitler's DNA to make little Hitler's.
It doesn't work. Neither does Olivier's performance as a Nazi Hunter. The movie doesn't work, mainly because Peck, Olivier and James Mason never get into their characters. The only shining moment is a small appearance of Steve Guttenberg as a Nazi hunter wannabe, but his ticket is punched and the rest of the movie is a bore.
Yes, Guttenberg upstages Peck, Olivier and Mason. For shame.
