Review of The Boys from Brazil (1978) by Ashish T — 26 Aug 2011
Watching an 80's movie, I've realized, gives me the same feeling as a foreign-language film. You realize what they're doing, but there's so many assumptions they've taken for granted then that are inconceivable now makes for interesting viewing.
That said, it's an interesting premise; I love the way the details build out and the tensions builds, sloowwwly but evenly, with no sudden shocks and twists but like an irresistible avalanche... it's also fun to see a couple of cliches and stereotypes make their first appearance, innocent and new.
Decent lazy sunday-afternoon watch.
