Review of The Boy Next Door (2015) by David M — 24 Jan 2015
Yup; it's mostly all those things everyone has reported. Bad acting; especially in the opening few scenes,, and a plot line I've seen a billion times before that makes this so predictable most anyone could have written the script.
Yet I wanted to see it having predicted its faults and I must admit I was reasonably entertained as I'm sure millions will be this weekend. I thought JL's acting got better got better as the film progressed (well regressed), The film was certainly tame enough for TV-----admittedly the love scene was almost really hot considering it was just shy of PG and the main thing (spoiler alert) that perturbed me during the final barn scene was the 'falling anvil or object" demise of our stalker.
As absurd as the previous 90 minutes was , surely they could have found a more realistic way to do our boy in. Believe me ,I'm not saying see this movie, but I didn't mind seeing it for myself.
Now I can't wait to see how bad Mortdecai really is.
