Review of The Boy in Blue (1986) by Scott A — 15 Jun 2013
Okay film, but let's get right the facts. The score is childish, almost sounds like the score used on your average episode of He-Man!!! The acting is bad: even Cage and Plummer come off as awful. It looks like it was filmed by a High School film class; very generic looking.
While the film is rated R, it really isn't at all violent and no language as far as I can remember, just the two leading ladies Dale and Melody Anderson show some skin, but I think this would easily be PG-13 today, so don't think the movie warrants the rating.
I guess it's kind of interesting learning how crazy these sport was back then, not that it's very good, but how much behind the scenes gambling went along with it.
It's fun to see Cage in an early role, and the film itself is never boring, it just looks very cheap.
