Review of The Boy and the Beast (2015) by Steve W — 28 Jun 2016
From the director of Summer Wars and Wolf Children comes a new fantasy picture about fathers and sons. A young boy named Ren is angst ridden and runs away from home, and ends up following a strange beast creature swordsman into another realm of magic, beasts, and other weird stuff.
He ends up flaring tempers as a pupil for an underdog warrior, and they end up growing together both physically and spiritually. The movie does have a nice soul to it but gets overblown in the third act, but its got solid animation and character development.
