Review of The Boy (2016) by Chris F — 29 Apr 2016
The Boy is another generic horror film that hits a lot of horror cliches. Still, it gets an E for effort. The cast is pretty good in their roles. Lauren Cohan delivered a decent performance as the lead character.
The film tries to be creepy for the first 2/3 of the film. It almost works. The doll itself looks particularly creepy, but the character of the doll isn't scary. There were a couple of good moments, but definitely not enough.
Then comes the final third of the film. Also known as the twist. The twist is incredibly stupid. It is very generic and lazy. It felt like a cop out. Also, when you think about this twist, it doesn't make a lot of sense.
Overall, this is just another January horror film. Nothing good to recommend.
