Review of The Boxtrolls (2014) by Omar A — 24 Feb 2015
This is one of the movies we meant to see in theaters last year. I was skeptical about whether I would like it. The trailer just didn't sell it for me.
I'm happy to say that Laika (the same studio that did Coraline and ParaNorman) accomplished it again. Their stories are often quite simple though this one was a little more complex having been based on "Here Be Monsters", a novel. Still the story and style was full of whimsy and humor. I'd highly recommend it to any kid or adult.
The people at Laika are so talented. Their movies are all stop motion animation. It is such a joy to watch.
