Review of The Boxtrolls (2014) by Kevin R — 21 Jun 2015
I had high hopes for this movie after Coraline and ParaNorman, but this fails on multiple levels. The story is nothing original, the boxtrolls themselves are like less-likable versions of Despicable Me's minions and, along with Rango, this is one of the few animated movies that I would describe as aesthetically horrible - none of the characters or scenery are particularly nice to look at.
I did however, enjoy Richard Ayoade as one of the villain's henchmen.
