Review of The Boxer (1997) by Ivan L — 11 May 2008
There are people who want war at any cost, and this film is about what happens when someone who is tired of the war comes up against someone who doesn't want it to end. The D.D-L character opens a "non-sectarian" boxing gym in early 90s Belfast and not everyone wants him to succeed.
The film is pretty remarkable in recreating a city that was a war zone and the tensions and suspicions, even amongst friends and family, that come from years of violence.
