Review of The Box (2009) by Jeffrey G — 13 Aug 2012
Really? Please, just read Matheson's "Button, Button" (all 4.5 pages of it). While Kelly certainly has a striking visual sense, I just wish he'd use it to make a movie that actually is worth watching.
I enjoy watching Langella work no matter what, but Kelly's religious and existentialist mumbo-jumbo, which he attempted earlier in Donnie Darko, is clumsy and heavy-handed at best. Kelly may be a talent worth watching--but, after this latest cinematic mishap, I am more convinced than ever that we should watch him from a distance.
