Review of The Box (2009) by Millo T — 01 Nov 2013
Definitely one of the weirdest and most mind bending chillers I've seen in a while. It feels like a mixture of The Happening crossed with The Invasion, as these films share the same idea of having people standing dead still staring off, it's strange and confusing and there's an eeriness to people's behaviour.
The Box is genuinely creepy and the story is mind-bending yet enjoyable. I love the concept, "Push the button, receive $1,000,000 and someone you don't know will die". Fear the consequences.
..Cameron Diaz and James Marsden are an excellent on screen couple as they try to unravel the mystery behind Frank Langella's mysterious Box, and the ending that surrounds the couple is horrific. For some it will completely turn your brain to mush because of the slow build twisty narrative, but if you concentrate the payoff is incredible and a big shock is in store, making this movie a worthy adventure.
