Review of The Box (2009) by Asdf_Man — 02 Jun 2021
Absolutely horrible.
The hollow and weal plot didn’t seem to go anywhere and the villain LITERALLY doesn’t seem to have an end goal or purpose.
The company that branded the movie as a “sci-fi” show are completely lying to us and themselves.Absolutely horrible.

It is just another fantasy movie in a modern somewhat urban setting. It was so confusing that I couldn’t tell if the supposed villains are trying to enact poetic justice, teach the main characters a lesson, or they just want to be the bad guys with a goal for reducing the population in mind. If they’re trying that hard to *do something good for the world* then they could use their “sci-fi like tech” aka purely fantastical magic to wipe out mosquitoes or aliens with an evil agenda.
And irreversible blindness and deafness. HELLO.
Cataracts tend to cause blindness which can be reversed. Hearing aids can help lessen deafness, if the kid’s deafness and blindness at the end of the movie really is irreversible, then the villains truly are using magic.
