Nothing like waking up at 5:45 am to a knock at your door and a strange package on your doorstep. Oh and make your wife answer it for you! Norma (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur (James Marsden) are a young couple presented with an interesting choice.

Press the button and kill someone, somewhere that you do not know. The reward is one million dollars. They have 24 hours to make a decision and they canâ(TM)t talk to anyone about it. The movie is based in the 70â(TM)s.

Arthur works for NASA and is working on the Mars Project. Norma is a teacher at an upscale school. The entire movie has suspenseful, almost ambient music to help set the mood. I found it obnoxious after the first half of the movie.

Sometimes silence is more suspenseful than planned eerie music. They throw in a little sci-fi with some minor suspense. I wouldnâ(TM)t call it a thriller. Itâ(TM)s very Twilight Zoney with a touch of X-Files.

The Box is based off of the short story âButton, Buttonâ?. In that respect they did a great job elaborating and adding enough detail to create a two hour movie. I spent most of the movie asking myself what was going on.

If I let my mind remain patient I would receive all of the answers to my questions. I liked the 70â(TM)s decor and outfits. I also liked that the setting was around Christmas. The couple are left with a much more difficult decision during the last 30 minutes.

The Box will have you scratching your head even after the end of the movie.
