Review of The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) by Johnathon W — 23 Jun 2016
Satisfying conclusion to the Bourne trilogy that is only let down by trying to shoe-horn the previous films into the plot. While "Supremacy" was a natural progression from "Identity", "Ultimatum" re-works scenes from previous films (going so far as ruining the classic final scene from "Supremacy") and brings characters back for no reason than to keep them in the franchise.
Thankfully, the cast is still first-rate, with Damon continuing his remorseful turn as Bourne while Strathairn continues the tradition of hiring the best actors to take him down. Greengrass's direction is exciting as well, though it's rather obvious he is trying to top himself from "Supremacy", particularly in comparing the car chases of both films.
Overall, still a fun ride and the best of the '3' films in 2007.
