Review of The Bourne Supremacy (2004) by Matt W — 12 Jun 2012
The great thing about a good sequel is it takes a film that's perfectly tied off and expands upon it further building up the world in ways you didn't event think was possible after the first one.
The second Bourne movie is a great example of this. Everything ties up very nicely in the first one and the entire program is shut down which, leads to one of the main questions of the second film... if the CIA isn't trying to stir the water again, who is? I enjoyed the plot for the second one a lot better than the first one, but the "shakey-camera" work is far worse, so it's definitely a trade off.
The film does very well to build off of the first one beautifully and further develop the Bourne character and none of the characters who were in the first film, seemed like they had different motivations, in this one which I really appreciate.
The 3rd act is a little unnecessary (a super crazy car chase) but in the end it worth it for the moment of humanity which is a nod to one of the best parts of the mystery in the first film.
