Review of The Bourne Legacy (2012) by Janis W — 24 Jun 2013
Renner and Weisz did a good job making up for the loss of Damon portraying Bourne in this film. What I believe is forgotten is that the character of Aaron Cross should not be panned just because people wanted to see Jason Bourne in this movie.
The idea of medication to enhance both physical and intellect is very smart in play for the modern day as well as the choosing of characters. Renner to me did a very good job portraying a character that is entirely brand-new with hardly any background information since, from what I can tell, he is not even mentioned or introduced in the book series of Bourne.
From watching the movie a couple times, I do have to admit in the beginning it was confusing as there were more than two things going on at once, but eventually it made sense as I did more research about the Bourne series.
The only other problem I had was that the ending of the movie was all car chase. In the movie, the chase was a 10-15 minute chase that took up most of the ending that could've been used to wrap up Cross's adventures if they weren't sure the producers would make a sequel or not for Renner's character.
They instead left a short scene on a boat at the end which makes you believe there will most likely be a sequel. But as I looked into the actors comments on a sequel, it looks like it will go as a 50/50 chance for there to be a sequel for either Cross or Bourne, but it is unknown.
There is a chance for a Bourne V and I look forward to seeing it.
