Review of The Bourne Legacy (2012) by Haren K — 28 Jan 2014
The Bourne series has so much to offer so it's difficult to understand why the Legacy did not deliver more. It felt like a film for a films sake. I was excited at the choice of Renner but he felt unnatural and out of his skin.
Gilroy has done a decent job of providing the background of Tredstone etc. but the film just felt inconsistent. There was just too much going on. In what felt like an attempt to lift the intellectual credibility of film Gilroy has made it unnecessarily complex.
Weisz was good but was let down by incoherent story telling. No way near a terrible film but I had high hopes based on the track record of the series so the Legacy fell short.
