Solid spy-thriller that works thanks to a top-notch cast and brisk direction from Doug Liman, who wisely pairs down the plot from the novel and adapts it for modern-day. Matt Damon is excellent in the title role, nicely underplaying his performance as a man confused & horrified about who he is & who he might be.

He gets nice support from the rest of the cast, particularly Franka Potenta as his love interest and Chris Cooper as the dogged CIA director hunting him down. Behind the camera, Doug Liman crafts some excellent action scenes (the car chase through Paris is nicely inventive) and pairs the story down from the book with efficiency.

The one thing holding it back is an anti-climatic ending that doesn't live up to the superb action of the rest of the film. Overall, still one of the better action films of the last decade.
