Review of The Bourne Identity (2002) by Jay L — 23 Jun 2013
"Everything He Found Out About Himself, He Wanted To Forget..".
The first film of the Bourne trilogy brings a non-stop, thrill a second action movie to the table. Doug Liman directs and gives a relentless two hours of nothing but action, and pulse pounding edge or your seat thrills. It's a real tough force guaranteed to keep you guessing all the way through.
Matt Damon stars as Jason Bourne, a rouge government agent who is rescued by sea with absolutley no memory or any recollection of who he is or why he is there. He's on the run from the CIA's black ops program, the agency set him up to be killed and wiped off of the grid for kid after a botched mission. As Bourne tries to figure out the facts, he befriends an unknowing female accomplice who helps him all the way through. It turns out that the both of them are in harms way as the agencies most elite assassins are hot on their trail. This sets the scene for a James Bond-esque caper full of style, substance, and entertainment.
Matt Damon gives a great performance as Jason Bourne. It also features a solid performance by Chris Cooper, who in my opinion, looks like and acts the part of a CIA spook perfectly, givin this performance and his performance in Breach. The Bourne Identity set the stage for a unique and utterly entertaining trilogy. Well worth a look.
