Review of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009) by Keith M — 28 Jul 2010
This sequel almost makes a mockery of the original, trying to capitalize on everything that made you love the first film, but failing miserably. Troy Duffy should have brought a new style to the sequel, instead of trying to make the exact same film and delivering it in the exact same way. There is no originality here, which is sad because I loved the first film. Julie Benz, whom I loved in Dexter, was absolutely awful! She brought nothing new. She played the exact same character as Dafoe in the predecessor. Clifton Collins Jr, although funny, was exactly like Rocco. The trio of Irish cops featuring Marley, Mahoney, and Ferry were all underdeveloped characters. Duffy should've taken his script back to the drawing board before committing to a sequel.
In short, if you've seen The Boondock Saints, you've already seen The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. I would actually recommend not watching the sequel if you were a fan of the original.
