Review of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009) by Michael Y — 06 Aug 2010

It doesn't have quite the same "je ne sais quoi" as the original, but it keeps everything that made the original brilliant.

The Brothers are back and out to solve the mystery of who killed an innocent priest. Old friends are reunited, new friends are made, and a set up of revenge is about to unfold as secrets are broken and the men responcable are brought to bloody justice. This movie hits all the familiar spots. Though it might seem too familiar, but it's a familiarity that is most welcome for it's fans. The only fault I'd say is the biggest is that the story seemed a bit too rushed. (even for it's 2 hour runningtime).

This movie caries all the great cinematography like the original, but with it's larger budget, it's flashier than ever. At times it even seems a little too much because the original was so low budget and gritty. This movie gives you more and more of the original action shots and sybolic moments, almost overdoing it at times.

Though it is a little more "big budget" than the original that we love oh so much, it holds it's weight as a grand reunion of the original cast. You even get to see Rocco again! :) and there are plenty of pleasant surprizes that you will love (for example, cameo apperance by Ricky!) But all in all, this movie remains a pumped-up action ride that will please the fans of the original the most and make them cheer for joy.
