Review of The Book Thief (2013) by Chiyang T — 12 Mar 2014
This film was so overhyped and overrated I was really let down when I saw it. Nothing like the book including missing characters, the film tries to show the innocence of a girl and her friend ship with a young German boy.
Geoffrey Rush was fantastic as he always is but was certainly out of place in this dull film which lacked depth and grit that most WW2 movies, particularly nazi based ones seem to have. Life is beautiful or jakob the liar are much better choices.
