Review of The Book Thief (2013) by Nabarun D — 07 Apr 2014
The Book Thief is one of those movies full of moments which make a lasting impression. They stay with you vividly long after the movie ends. Feel-wise, it's close to 'Hugo'.
Sophie Nelisse makes a wonderful Liesel. Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson are so much amazing as Liesel's foster parents. The colour-faded Germany, watchful for WWII attacks, attracts in a way. And the beautiful background music tells the rest.
Unfortunately when I decided to buy the book, my nearest bookstore (followed by a little farther one) closed down! Maybe I have to order it online. :).
