Review of The Book of Life (2014) by Dawi R — 27 Oct 2014

It was nice to see a Mexican fairytale for once which helped make this film more original than its peers, with a few exceptions when the film enters the land of the remembered, most of the animation felt barely one step ahead of a straight to DVD animated feature and miles behind Pixar.

The studio chose to make the characters stylized wooden puppets which helps explain the animation style, but it did feel a little distracting. The comedy was pretty good with many laughs for both kids and adults.

I have no doubt this film will help turn the animation studio into a bigger name.
