Review of The Book of Life (2014) by Miranda Z — 26 Jan 2015
Everything about this just screams feel-good, from the stylistic art to the colourful visuals to the ridiculous story. Sure, the plot might be a little shallow and unbalanced (Joaquin was dealt a bad hand right off the bat; some hypocrisy did not escape me; a few issues were tied up too quickly), but the characters are charming (Maria in particular is imbued with sass from Zoe Saldana) and honestly, this could be a perfect pick-me-up or heck, just an adorable film to watch whenever.
Besides, was it ever any question that the girl would go for the sweet-hearted musician?
