Review of The Book of Eli (2010) by Joseph M — 14 Aug 2012
Upon seeing this movie for the first time, I was shocked... The ironic twists and turns left me confused, yet glued to the screen. Not being a particular fan of post-apocalyptic films, one would expect me not to enjoy this film.
.. But I did. The style of the film is creative, while the plot is innovative for the genre. The underlying themes and symbolism range from Christian values and theology to corruption in society. The world in which the film is set is modelled after the Wild West in a way, as if representing the lawlessness of new worlds.
I strongly recommend this movie, especially to any and all who enjoy action thrillers... It brings a truly artistic quality to an otherwise artless genre.
