Review of The Book of Eli (2010) by Steve R — 11 Jul 2014
For some reason people want to NOT like this film, perhaps because it feels unoriginal - released after this year's string of post-apocalyptic tales but the story is grounded by a religious theme that's refreshing for an action film.
Are there plot holes? Yes. Many. Does some of the dialogue make you cringe? Sure. But it's shot beautifully and Oldman is fun to watch. It's not a Hughes' classic but they once again prove themselves multifaceted talents that can deliver an entertaining genre picture.
