Review of The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990) by Dave S — 18 Oct 2007
It's one of Brian De Palma's best movies. (The same guy who directed Mission Impossible.) It's a at one level a realistic depiction of our modern city life. Replete with delicious ironies, double standards and bizzare characters.
Probably was bit too dark and early for it's times so it bombed at the box office. Good story. Great cinematography. Tight plot and a strong cast make a highly watchable. I may be a little biased though because one of main characters in the story is a journalist.
