An ordinary movie, nothing special jumped out of the screen at me. Not having read Tom Wolfe's book, I cannot judge this movie fairly. From what I gathered from the book reviews, Wolfe's literary masterpiece was heavily satiric in nature.
The movie definetly falls short in capturing this. Even with a star cast (Hanks, Willis, Freeman), although there are some comic and dramatic moments in the film, DePalma's adaptation is your typical "rich guy takes a wrong turn and loses everything" movie with a very predictable ending.
