Review of The Bone Collector (1999) by Jenna G — 15 Apr 2010
This was a highly entertaining film for me that also surprised me. I rented it because Phillip Noyce & Jolie teamed up again for an upcoming flick "Salt" and I wanted to see what they did the first time around.
I would like to say I am not a fan of Denzel Washington at all, I've tried watching many of his films and have yet to watch more then 1 (until this of course). However this film was excellent proof every person has a taste for an actor in a particular role.
Washington is the center of the story. He plays a bed restrained cop after suffering a horrific accident that is slowly paralyzing him. But once a new Serial Killer is on the loose they go to him for advice. Angelina Jolie stars beside an already A-List actor in 1999 as a rooky cop who found a body and other evidence of a homocide.
The Bone COllector is based off of a novel which I have no yet read nor have any interest to, because the movie was compelling enough to grab my attention and their differences may take away the value.
The acting was great accept that Al Bundy had to be cast as a horrid Cop. His acting was terrible, he constantly annoyed me, I'll stick to Married With Children if I want to see him. While Washington stood out a lot to me, Jolie stole the show mainly because I knew this was one of her earlier films and she was gorgeous, just as she is today, and her acting was grown so much, yet I now know why she won an Oscar in 1999 for another film "Girl Interrupted".
Overall this was a great psychological/thriller that is worth a rent.
