Review of The Bodyguard (1992) by Drj J — 10 Mar 2011
Well this film made Whitney very famous as it coincided with the release of her song "I will always love you" which is a cover of Dilly Partin's song and was basically in the charts for most of my childhood.
Anyhu the film is a classic I think it set the standard for others to follow and is now lagging behind perhaps that's why they are considering a remake with Rhianna. All in all the love story between bodyguard and singer is kinda hard to believe, I think it's because we now know what Whitney is like but the ending just verifies it that it was just a one off thing and that it wouldn't work but they just love each other regardless hence the song.
Def a decent twist in the story but think that the popstar's life could've been more at risk. The remake to me reeks off more like a Saw film edge than an action/romance. Give it a watch! It is a must!
