Review of The Bodyguard (1992) by The Critic ( — 17 Sep 2012
Singers don't always make an easy transition to the big screen, but it's pleasing to see that Whitney Houston, whilst not stretching herself all too much, succeeds in conveying multiple facets of her megastar character, from tempremental diva to emotional fragility.
Kevin Costner, in the title role, is as good as could be expected and it's his believable chemistry with Houston that makes this love story/thriller work.
Filled with songs performed to perfection (THAT signature ballad is the reason why the soundtrack was more profitable than the film itself), 'The Bodyguard' might not be flawless, but gets pretty close to the bullzeye.
