Review of The Boatman (2016) by Steinblogger — 24 Jan 2017

A rough around the edges movie with some neat ideas that are never pushed quite as far as they should be. The surreal elements are interesting but not properly implemented in the overall narrative. The Boatman isn't a bad movie by any means, it's just padded and drawn out much longer than it needed to be.

It failed to make a lasting impression on me as I saw it in October of 2015 and hadn't thought of it until I saw it here under upcoming releases. A cool twist on a familiar story that probably would have worked better as a short.
