Review of The Blue Gardenia (1953) by Bill T — 01 Jul 2012
OK noir here, certainly not Fritz Lang's best American film. Ann Baxter plays a telephone operator who has a wild night on the town with Raymond Burr. She drinks too much and winds up killing him, or at least she thinks that's what happened.
(She blacked out) The cops are after her and so is greasy reporter played by the greasy Richard Conte who wants the Big Scoop. Unfortunately, there isn't a huge payoff, it's all pretty pedestrian, and then ending seems remarkably forced.
Not the brightest Noir out there.
