Review of The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros (2005) by David Ray G — 01 Sep 2012
A beautiful, funny, realistic-to-a-fault indie movie from the Philippines, portraying the life of a young gay boy and his adventures around the neighborhood. Very pleasant, funny and sweet, and a window to a world I personally was not very familiar with. Excellent performances and direction, despite bad sound and lacking soundtrack.
A film infused with the harsh reality of what it's like to be in the group of people who were not blessed with everything but still manage to make a lot out of what they have. It could have been much better, and more tightly woven together, but it's still quite nice.
