Review of The Blob (1958) by Andy . — 08 Jan 2009
I've not seen many 50's sci-fi/monster flicks but this seems classic for the genre with the hoakey (by todays standards) yet still strangely effective special effects, screaming extras and amusing dialogue ("Nothing will stop it!" a nurse exclaims after throwing a bottle of acid over the blob to no effect - kind of an over-reaction wouldn't you say?).
Never-the-less The Blob isn't exactly orthodox, throwing you as soon as it begins with the psychedelic title screen and catchy theme song. A good watch overall, anyone should be able to enjoy it whether they're a fan of the genre or not.
