Review of The Bling Ring (2013) by Kelsey G — 16 Sep 2013

Sofia Coppola really hit the nail on the head with her portrayal of these high schoolers who make up The Bling ring. She provides us with a glimpse into the current celerity obsessed, materialistic, and technologically advanced culture we're growing and thriving in today.

People are complaining that the characters in this film lack depth, don't you think that was intentional? Their lack of depth and individuality actually provides us with an enormous amount of information, I believe.

I'd have to say that this movie isn't getting the respect it deserves because it's way ahead of its time. People don't understand it because we're still living in/obsessed with the time and society/culture that this film is commenting on so it's hard for people to see it in another perspective.

Anyways, I loved it. Another great film from Coppola. Much love and respect.
