This syrupy sentimental plot is sure to have many families on their feet cheering, but the observant filmgoer will see nothing more than a rehearsed fairytale of rags to riches not to mention the odd focus on the mother character.
The symbolism is certainly there but only remains afloat by it being based on a true story.
