Review of The Blair Witch Project (1999) by Inaneswine — 14 Nov 2017
With all the expensive looking found-footage films around today, including Cloverfield, the Paranormal Activity franchise and REC, perhaps this fairly quiet, uneventful little film about three student filmmakers wandering through the woods will seem quite tame.
But while the others use visuals, jump-scare tactics and in-your-face villains, Blair Witch has perhaps the most masterful crafting of tension in any horror film ever made, owing to its realistic performances and structure, and the subtlety of its supernatural moments.
