Review of The Black Phone (2022) by Davemelbourne58 — 26 Jun 2022
The Black Phone is a tribute to the best of Stephen Kings characters, and a nice tribute to Halloween. The brother/sister play off each other really well. This movie doesn't try to shock you, or get too graphic with the blood and violence.
But it has a lot of heart to it. It was nice to see Ethan Hawke play "The Grabber" without chewing the scenery like he was going for an Oscar. A deeply distubured and quietly menacing tribute to Stephen King's "It" clown.
The ending was cathartic, and well edited. It all worked for me, and I'm not a big horror movie fan.
