Review of The Black Dahlia (2006) by Steven P — 05 Apr 2010
This unsatisfying, convoluted mess of a movie falls so flat its embarrassing for its otherwise very talented cast. Hillary Swank, Aaron Eckhart, and Josh Hartnett are normally great actors but all give uninspiring performances in this flop attempt at film noir.
At no point during this film do I become invested in the plot or feel the need to unravel the unnecessarily complicated and slow-moving murder mystery.
I will admit that Brian De Palma did capture the atmosphere of the era nicely, but its about all he did right.
This movie is as forgettable as all of Scarlett Johanson's performances.
