Review of The Black Dahlia (2006) by Jillian L — 18 Jan 2012
So, I come across this gem, see Josh Hartnett, Aaron Eckhart, Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, and even Fiona Shaw (Petunia Dursley in my beloved Harry Potter movies) are all in it, and I think, well, good actors, true crime drama, a genre that I find interesting, let's give it a shot.
..And there went two hours of my life. The story was all over the place. The plot turned more into the story of Hartnett and Eckhart's characters obsession with solving the murder, while bringing in an old crime that has nothing to do with the Black Dahlia, and all of this other random stuff, a couple of frenzied sex scenes that made me stop and think "Wait, why are they having sex right now?" Really random camera shots, like one scene being in first person for some inexplainable reason.
Acting was decent, but it could not redeem this train wreck. Still don't know if Hilary Swank was supposed to have an accent, and if she was, what in the hell that accent was supposed to be.
