Review of The Black Cauldron (1985) by Keenan S — 22 Aug 2011
One of the most underrated films of all time, I absolutely loved The Black Cauldron and I don't know why people seem to hate it so much. People seem to slam this film because they either find it boring or too dark, which I have to disagree on immensely because it definitely wasn't boring to me with its great cast of characters, compelling villain, great music, and exciting action scenes.
Even Disney seemed to be ashamed of the film since it was't allowed a video release until 1998, which was thirteen years after its theatrical release. This film is very dark, and while it may scare kids, it's also a great film if you don't just blow it off as some people do because it's much better than you've been led to believe.
I'm not ashamed to say that this is one of my favorite fantasy epics and I'll love it no matter what people say or the fact that Disney has neglected this film so much (For shame!).
